Bonding is a composite resin that is used as an alternative to veneers and amalgams. Bonding can be used on teeth that are decayed, cracked, or stained. Bonding is a fantastic option for those dental patients who no longer wish to have silver in their mouth.
A composite resins durability is not as strong as other types of restorations. You can typically get 4-10 years from before they begin to chip and wear away. Cosmetic resins are cosmetically pleasing and easily replaced.
The first step is to remove the decay or unsightly portion of your tooth. Then the tooth is etched with a gel or liquid and a bonding agent is applied. Once applied, the resin is then trimmed up and polished. The whole bonding procedure usually takes 1 office visit.
